Medicine is a wide-ranging field in which terminology must be accurate and reliable, so the objective was to publish a glossary of terms used in chronic venous disease compiled by authors with the expertise required to meet this need for precision and dependability.

The glossary defines around 1000 terms in English on the following topics: anatomy, pathology, physiology, and pathophysiology affecting the upper and lower limbs, including the pelvis, in acute and chronic venous disease.

These English terms are translated into six other languages — French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

This glossary provides the meaning of terms at a specific point in time. As the understanding of the
disease and the effects of treatment will progress over time, an electronic version, available on the Vein
Academy Portal, will be updated on a regular basis.
